Louis Barnett

Recent works

Louis Barnett is an emerging sculptor who began working with soft limestone after attending a workshop at the Adelaide Hills International Sculpture Symposium at Crystal Lake in 2019. This formative experience sparked a growing interest in stone carving, leading him to explore more demanding materials such as granite and marble. In 2024, he further developed his practice by joining SASSA, where he continues to refine his technical skills and artistic approach.

Drawing inspiration from natural lifeforms, Louis is interested in creating sculptural forms that are both visually engaging and organically balanced. He enjoys the challenge of revealing form from solid stone, allowing the natural character and shape of the stone to influence the final outcome.
